Hello, my name is Oscar F. Portillo; Mr. Hobson had the kindness to invite me to this forum. I will be addressing you in English since I feel it is more comfortable to all, I apologize in advance for any misspelling or grammar mistake I should commit since my English now is somewhat rusty. I am the architect assigned by ABC to design this front desk, I will be glad to read your comments and thoughts and introduce them into the final design. My best regards. Oscar
That sounds excellent - we just measure their space so we could be sure what they have. More is definitely better. If hexagonal is a better use of space and we still have as much area as you say then that is fine. I just liked the look of the rectangular one as I prefer lines to curves
The space ought to be bigger than you describe. The architect was given the remit to put an entrance either side (one to go to the lrc store and the other to go to the Repro Centre) and have up to 4 workspaces (two to three staff and two or one library monitor). It will be on a platform raised just one step (about 20 cm). We looked at the hexagon since it is the most space efficient and can be constructed of straight pieces, but he also submitted the circular model too.
Yensi and Sue also have the original circular designs, and have invited them to this ning site so that they can participate in this.
Saw these yesterday, also have looked again now - I am trying to upload photos too but having some trouble. Anyway, did you get the dimensions of the LRC here and, if so, how does that compare to the space we are allocating? I know their model isn't quite right for us but I think I prefer the square look with a curved front desk. There must be space for two desks within the space I think. What do you think?
