Wordle is a cool web app. that allows you to create word clouds. These clouds pick up the frequency of each word in your text and displays them either for printing or embedding. I had a quick play this morning to test it out and now realise that for optimum effect we will need to monitor the frequency of words we wish to be prominent prior to pasting them in. In my example on intellectual honesty there are a great many words that should be in larger print but are not because they do not appear in the text very often. This can be overcome by placing them in as often as needed, maunaly.

Found the Fiction review quite helpful.Did have a lot of them already on order but added more.
Fiction was my brief from George for this year and so that is where the money has gone. That is pretty much complete now and am just tidying it up a little before sending it out to you guys.
Non Fiction and Reference is a totally different ball game and I don't pretend to be an expert on that but I know there are a lot of schools out there with good library websites just packed with information.
What I would like to do now is start researching for next year so that it isn't all left for a mad rush in the last few weeks before the orders have to go out. Also need time for some good consultation with HODs.
I'll get your books back to you soon.
Great plans in the in the making for our new LRC. School year 2008-09 promises to be a truly exciting time with a multitude of exciting new initiatives taking off.
Some of the main areas I have elaborated ideas for are:
Raise the profile of reading in the school
*
The Presence of the LRC:Make the LRC the centre of learning and community at the ABC and in the local community
*
Secure a strong collection of print and digital resources
*
Reference, research and information skills
*
Form an LRC Committee made up of staff, and students
* Collaborative/supportive work with subject areas
Once the Plan is complete I will share it with those involved.
Meanwhile I have managed to compile a fairly extensive listing of fiction books for the LRC and would really like someone's feedback on them. Most come from recommended lists and just looking at them there appears to be a great variety to suit many tastes.
We will also need to address reference books fairly soon and I would welcome any suggestions.
